In what was their biggest series of the year to this point, the Los Angeles Dodgers took three out of four from the Arizona Diamondbacks to take over sole possession of first place in the National League West.

For the second straight game, it was Matt Kemp that provided the late-inning heroics off of Diamondbacks reliever Archie Bradley. With the Dodgers trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the ninth inning, Alex Verdugo and Max Muncy drew walks to begin the frame against closer Brad Boxberger.

After Kikê Hernandez bunted both runners over, Bradley came in to face Kemp, who hit a big three-run home run against him the night before.

Kemp did not wait long before getting to Bradley again, taking the first-pitch fastball he saw to deep center field, resulting in a two-run walk-off double off the fence.

In what was the fourth straight low-scoring game, rookie starter Walker Buehler turned in another strong outing for Los Angeles. He went 6.1 innings, allowing just two hits and one run while tying his career high with nine strikeouts against just three walks.

The most controversial play of the game came in the top of the eighth inning when the Diamondbacks were threatening to tie the game. With the bases loaded and one out, newly-acquired reliever Ryan Madson got a fly ball to left-center field that Cody Bellinger caught.

Paul Goldschmidt attempted to tag up and score, and Bellinger came up firing, throwing a perfect strike to home plate. It looked like Yasmani Grandal tagged Goldschmidt before he crossed the plate, which would have kept the Dodgers lead at 1-0.

However, Goldschmidt was ruled safe after a review though, so the Dodgers required the late-inning comeback to get the win.
