Dodgers Highlights: Julio Urias Collects 3 RBI, Gavin Lux Hits Grand Slam In Blowout Of Giants

The Los Angeles Dodgers received a dominant performance from Julio Urias and saw their offense explode in an 11-5 win over the San Francisco Giants to complete a three-game sweep. That extended the Dodgers’ winning streak to seven games and kept them undefeated on the current road trip.

Yoshi Tsutsugo’s RBI single in the second inning gave the Dodgers a 1-0 lead, which Urias added to with a two-run double off the wall in right field. It marked a second consecutive start Urias collected a hit in, and represented the beginning of a big day.

Run-scoring singles by Matt Beaty and Chris Taylor extended the Dodgers’ lead to 5-0 in the third inning, and the game then got away from Giants starter Anthony DeSclafani.

A decision to intentionally walk DJ Peters with two outs in the third backfired as Urias followed with a hard-hit grounder to first base and went off Darin Ruf’s glove to result in an RBI infield single with the bases loaded.

Urias became the first Dodgers pitcher with three RBI in a single game since Dan Haren in 2014.

Gavin Lux broke the game open with his second career grand slam; both of which have come in the past week. That knocked DeSclafani out of the game, with the 10 runs allowed a career high.

He went into the day not having allowed more than three runs in any outing this year and only a total of 12 in nine starts.

Max Muncy’s home run — his 10th of the season — gave the Dodgers an 11-0 lead in the fourth inning and represented their final scoring of the day.

Dodgers starting pitching

Following in the footsteps of Trevor Bauer and Walker Buehler, Urias added to the consistency of strong Dodgers starting pitching.

He held the Giants without a baserunner until Mike Tauchman’s one-out infield single in the sixth inning. It came one pitch after Tauchman appeared to go around on a check swing, but the third base umpire did not rule as much.

With a perfect game lost, Urias also saw his shutout bid slip away on Austin Slater’s two-run home run. Urias got through six innings with 10 strikeouts and the two runs allowed.
