After dropping the opener, the Los Angeles Dodgers bounced back with consecutive wins over the Texas Rangers to take another series, capped off with a 7-2 victory on Sunday afternoon.

The Dodgers continue to be the only team in baseball to not lose a series yet this season, and they also have the best record at 26-10 and top run differential at +90.

Corey Seager got the offense started early with a solo home run in the top of the first inning, his ninth of the season. Seager has been swinging a hot bat for the Dodgers all year and after a 2-for-5 effort in the series finale at Globe Life Field, he is now slashing .311/.354/.597.

The second home run of the game was hit off the bat of Will Smith in the second inning, and he got all of it, hitting it an estimated 439 feet at 108.8 mph for his fourth of the season.

Smith has been a victim of some bad luck this season but is now hitting .208/.371/.521 after reaching base three times in the series finale against the Rangers.

Another player who started off slow but has come on as of late is Cody Bellinger. He hit another home run on Sunday, a two-run shot in the fourth inning for his second of the series and 10th of the season. He has a total of six home runs in his last 11 games, regaining his 2019 MVP form.

The Dodgers added to their lead in the fourth inning when Mookie Betts drove home a run with a single. He also had a sacrifice fly in the sixth, driving in two on the day while reaching base three times.

Dodgers set NL record for most home runs in one month

With the three home runs on Sunday, the Dodgers finished the month of August with 57 long balls, which is the most in a single month in National League history.

The previous record of 56 was held by the Atlanta Braves in 2019 and Cincinnati Reds in 1999. The Dodgers’ previous franchise record of 55 home runs in a month was set in June of 2018.

It comes as no surprise that the Dodgers are hitting a lot of home runs in 2020, and if they can continue at this rate, then it’s possible they break the record again in September.
