In what was a playoff atmosphere throughout the weekend at Citi Field, the Los Angeles Dodgers took two out of three from the New York Mets, capped off with a 3-2 come-from-behind victory on Sunday night.

As was expected with Walker Buehler and Zack Wheeler on the mound, runs were at a premium in the series finale. The Dodgers didn’t have a problem putting men on base, but they did struggle getting them in as they went just 3-for-16 with runners in scoring position on the night.

The Mets got on the scoreboard first with two runs in the second, and the Dodgers eventually began to chip away at their deficit with a run in the fourth. Max Muncy singled to lead off the inning and then later scored on a two-out base hit by Corey Seager.

That 2-1 score remained until the eighth inning, and the Dodgers threatened once again after Jedd Gyorko walked to begin the frame. He advanced to third on a balk and wild pitch, and then Chris Taylor hit a double into the gap to tie the game.

The Dodgers opted to use Kenley Jansen in the eighth inning instead of waiting for a potential save situation, and he was able to keep the score tied with a dominant 1-2-3 inning on 10 pitches.

That set the stage for the ninth inning, where the Dodgers again had a runner reach on a double off the wall from Kiké Hernandez with one out. He just missed a go-ahead home run by a foot or two.

The Dodgers were able to get him home though as Gyorko came up with a clutch two-out single to score Hernandez and give his team their first lead of the day. With Jansen already being used, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts turned to Adam Kolarek and Kenta Maeda in the ninth inning, and they took care of business to earn the series victory.
