Rawlings Gold Glove Award finalists for the National League and American League were announced Wednesday morning, with the Los Angeles Dodgers having Mookie Betts (shortstop) and Miguel Rojas (utility) placing among the top-three finishers at their respective positions.
The 2025 season marks a fourth consecutive year in which the Dodgers have had multiple Gold Glove Award finalists. In 2024, they were represented by Will Smith (catcher) and Kiké Hernández (utility).
For the 2023 season, Freddie Freeman, David Peralta and Betts (right field and utility) were Dodgers’ Gold Glove Award finalists. Tyler Anderson and Betts were named Gold Glove Award finalists in 2022.
Despite the strong showing, only Betts was a Gold Glove winner during that span as he took home the hardware for right field in 2022.
Gold Glove Awards 2025
Gold Glove Award winners for the nine standard positions are determined via vote of MLB managers and up to six coaches from each team. Managers and coaches cannot vote for their own players and are only permitted to submit ballots for those in their same league.
Those votes amount to 75% of the selection total, with the SABR Defensive Index accounting for the remaining 25%.
For the utility Gold Glove Award, Rawlings collaborates with SABR to create a specialized defensive formula separate from the traditional selection process.
The Chicago Cubs had an MLB-best six players named finalists, while the Toronto Blue Jays led the AL with five Gold Glove Award finalists.
All 2025 Gold Glove Award winners will be announced on ESPN on Sunday, Nov. 2.
Mookie Betts, shortstop finalist
Betts completed his first season as the Dodgers’ full-time shortstop and graded favorably in several defensive metrics. He is looking to win a seventh career Gold Glove Award and his first as a shortstop.
Nick Allen (Atlanta Braves) and Masyn Winn (St. Louis Cardinals) are also finalists for the NL Gold Glove at the position.
Miguel Rojas, utility player finalist
Rojas played four different positions this season: second base, third base, shortstop and first base. The 36-year-old also made four pitching appearances and allowed seven runs in five innings of work.
Rojas has never won a Gold Glove Award in his career.
Javier Sanoja (Miami Marlins) and Jared Triolo (Pittsburgh Pirates) are Rojas’ competition for the utility Gold Glove in the NL.
