Dodgers Free Agent Rumors: Marcell Ozuna Seeking At Least 4-Year Contract

While the Los Angeles Dodgers have addressed their bullpen this offseason, the team has yet to take any action on the position player side. They have most prominently been connected to Justin Turner, who reportedly is the Dodgers’ preferred choice at third base.

He also would help ensure the Dodgers lineup maintains some balance, which president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said was a focal point this winter. Other right-handed hitters the team reportedly has expressed interest in are Marcell Ozuna and Marcus Semien.

From a hitting standpoint, Ozuna better profiles for what the Dodgers are looking for. However, his fit on the roster is not the best, particularly if the universal designated hitter doesn’t return this season.

Nevertheless, the Dodgers reportedly remain among the teams interested in Ozuna, who is looking to sign a contract of at least four years, per MLB reporter Hector Gomez:

SOURCE: Marcell Ozuna is seeking a 4-year and up multi-year contract. Six teams have shown interest:

– Red Sox
– Yankees
– Dodgers
– Mets
– Twins
– Brewers@z101digital @ZDeportes

Noticeably absent from the group of teams that have been linked to Ozuna are the Atlanta Braves. He primarily served as their DH last season, batting .338/.431/.636 with an NL-best 18 home runs and 56 RBI. Ozuna finished sixth in MVP voting and won a Silver Slugger Award.

How would Ozuna fit on Dodgers roster?

Should the universal DH not be in place this year, Ozuna would have to play left field if he were to sign with the Dodgers. However, there’s currently where AJ Pollock is slated to start and with Ozuna also being right-handed, that wouldn’t make for a natural platoon.
