Dodgers Break Franchise Record With 55 Home Runs In Month Of June

The Los Angeles Dodgers did something they have never accomplished before, hitting 55 home runs as a team during a single calendar month. Kiké Hernandez capped off the historic month with a blast off Colorado Rockies starter in Saturday’s 3-1 loss at Dodger Stadium.

With the month coming to close, the Dodgers fell just one home run shy of tying the National League record, 56, set by the Cincinnati Reds set in September/October of 1999. They fell just three short of the Major League record, 58, set by the Baltimore Orioles in May of 1987 and the Seattle Mariners in May of 1999.

The Dodgers also were just one home run shy of the record for most home runs in the month of June, which was set by the Orioles in 2016 with 56. The previous Dodger home run record was 53, which was set in June 2017.

Max Muncy and Joc Pederson led the way for the Dodgers in their historic month by slugging 10 home runs apiece.

They became the organization’s first pair of teammates to hit double-digit home runs in the same month.

Other key contributors to the Dodgers breaking their year-old record were Cody Bellinger (eight home runs), Kiké Hernandez (seven), Matt Kemp (six), Justin Turner (four), Yasiel Puig (four) and Yasmani Grandal (three).

Not only did the Dodgers hit home runs in the month of June, but they also won a lot of games, going 17-9 to get back into the playoff race in the NL West.

Los Angeles now leads the NL in home runs this season with 110, and they will look to continue their production via the long ball into July.
