As determined by the staff at DodgerBlue.com each Monday, here are the latest MLB Power Rankings with current odds to win the 2024 World Series.

These rankings reflect the dynamic and competitive nature of the MLB season, highlighting both rookie and veteran contributions. The Dodgers, while still a top contender, have seen a slight drop as the Phillies take the lead in this week’s power rankings.

  1. Philadelphia Phillies, 28-13
The Braves aren’t in first place as we reach mid-May, nearly a quarter into the season. Instead, the Phillies lead the NL East only by two games. The Phillies have the best baseball record, with the Braves close behind. Philadelphia has started slow in the past two seasons before finding its rhythm. Last year, they were 20-21 after 41 games; in 2022, they were 19-22. Given their strong start this season, they may compete well with Atlanta all season. While the Phillies’ potent offense might come to mind first, their rotation could be considered the best in baseball this season. Unlike the previous two years, it’s not as top-heavy. Despite Zack Wheeler’s poor performance against the Marlins on Sunday and Aaron Nola’s consistency, Ranger Suárez has pitched like an ace, and Cristopher Sánchez has been impressive. Spencer Turnbull was outstanding before Taijuan Walker’s return moved him to the bullpen. *Odds to win the World Series: +1200 (bet $10 to win $130 total)*.
  2. Los Angeles Dodgers, 27-15
The Dodgers have dropped a spot but remain strong. Yoshinobu Yamamoto has found his stride, but rookie outfielder Andy Pages has added significant power to the lower lineup. Pages’ aggressive batting style has rejuvenated the Dodgers’ offense. Los Angeles had won 14 of 16 before dropping the weekend series to the Padres. They’ve gone a lackluster 3-5 in three series against San Diego this season. *Odds to win the World Series: +300 (bet $10 to win $40 total)*.
  3. Baltimore Orioles, 26-13
The Orioles are on pace for a historic season, building on last year’s success. Their offense ranks third in the American League, while their pitching staff is fifth in MLB ERA. This balance has them aiming for a record 108 wins. *Odds to win the World Series: +1100 (bet $10 to win $120 total)*.
  4. New York Yankees, 27-15
Luis Gil has been a revelation in the Yankees’ rotation, filling in during Gerrit Cole’s absence. Despite making his debut in 2021, Gil remains rookie-eligible and has impressed. The Yankees also anticipate strong offensive contributions from Austin Wells. *Odds to win the World Series: +650 (bet $10 to win $75 total)*.
  5. Atlanta Braves, 24-13
The Braves have yet to feature any MLB debuts in 2024, but top pitching prospect Hurston Waldrep is expected to join soon. The Braves’ established roster continues to perform with little need for rookie contributions. *Odds to win the World Series: +490 (bet $10 to win $59 total)*.
  6. Minnesota Twins, 24-16
The Twins are riding a hot streak, winning their sixth straight series. With Byron Buxton potentially returning soon, their momentum looks promising. The Twins’ recent success includes a series win in Toronto, showcasing their resilience. *Odds to win the World Series: +2000 (bet $10 to win $210 total)*.
  7. Milwaukee Brewers, 24-16
The Brewers have dominated the Cardinals this season, significantly boosting their run differential. Their performance against St. Louis has been a critical factor in their strong start. The Brewers are looking to build on this momentum as the season progresses. *Odds to win the World Series: +5000 (bet $10 to win $510 total)*.
  8. Chicago Cubs, 24-17
The Cubs have relied heavily on rookie pitchers Shota Imanaga, Jordan Wicks, and Ben Brown. Imanaga, in particular, has been a standout addition, providing stability to the rotation. Michael Busch, who they picked up from the Dodgers in January, has also added power to the lineup despite some strikeout concerns. *Odds to win the World Series: +3000 (bet $10 to win $310 total)*.
  9. San Diego Padres, 22-21
The Padres acquired two-time batting champ Luis Arraez from the Marlins last week in exchange for reliever Woo-Suk Go and three prospects. The move bolsters the top of the Padres’ order and shows they’re still serious about winning in a division everyone has conceded to Los Angeles. *Odds to win the World Series: +5500 (bet $10 to win $560 total)*.
  10. Cleveland Guardians, 25-16
Cade Smith and Hunter Gaddis have been crucial for the Guardians’ bullpen, which ranks among the best in baseball. Smith’s continued excellence in late innings and Gaddis’ reliability have fortified Cleveland’s relief corps. The Guardians are neck and neck with the Kansas City Royals and Minnesota Twins in the American League Central. *Odds to win the World Series: +3500 (bet $10 to win $360 total)*.
  11. Boston Red Sox, 21-19
Connor Wong has emerged as a critical player for the Red Sox, hitting .348 with significant power. His performance has been a pleasant surprise, providing much-needed offense for Boston this season. Wong’s contributions have been vital as the Red Sox navigate a challenging season. Boston plays in perhaps the toughest division in baseball, but they’re winning more than they’re losing for the first time in a few years. *Odds to win the World Series: +9500 (bet $10 to win $960 total)*.
  12. Kansas City Royals, 25-17
One of the bigger surprises this year has been the Kansas City Royals. Seth Lugo’s recent dominance, including a career-high 12 strikeouts, has propelled the Royals. Lugo’s performance has been pivotal, putting Kansas City in contention for the American League Central title for the first time since 2016. *Odds to win the World Series: +9000 (bet $10 to win $910 total)*.
  13. Texas Rangers, 22-20
The defending champions still have not found their stride despite rookie duo Evan Carter and Wyatt Langford finding results at the plate. The Rangers have found a reliable arm in lefty reliever Jacob Latz, whose standout changeup has solidified his role in a bullpen needing reinforcement. Carter and Langford are expected to improve as the season progresses. *Odds to win the World Series: +1500 (bet $10 to win $160 total)*.
