The Los Angeles Dodgers hosted LeBron James bobblehead night on Saturday to conclude their season-long homestead, which also saw the Los Angeles Lakers superstar in attendance for the game.

Also in attendance with LeBron was his wife Savannah James, their sons LeBron “Bronny” Jr. and Bryce Maximus, and their daughter Zhuri Nova. Klutch Sports chief operating officer Fara Leff was in the Dodger Stadium suite with the James family as well.

“It’s a long answer as far as what LeBron has done at his age,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said about James’ career. “For the city, for the sport and for sports in general. It’s just a credit to how he takes care of himself. He’s a unicorn.

“I think physically, genetically, and also the mindset and mentality. Those guys don’t come around very often; once a generation. I marvel at it. I’m around great athletes every day, but to play at the level that he has for two decades, it’s really unprecedented.”

As part of the celebration of the four-time NBA MVP, Dodgers president and CEO Stan Kasten presented James with a $100,000 check for the LeBron James Family Foundation on behalf of the Dodgers.

“On behalf of our ownership and the Dodgers, we are thrilled to be donating to an organization as impactful and life changing as the I PROMISE Program,” Kasten said in a statement.

The foundation’s I PROMISE Program serves more than 1,500 at-risk students and their families by providing fundamental resources, wraparound support, and family support.

The program provides college scholarships, supports gateways to higher education, and provides transitional housing and longer-term housing.

In 2018, the foundation partnered with public schools in Akron, Ohio, James’ hometown, to build all of its family-first programming and academic interventions into the groundbreaking I PROMISE School that has created a new model for urban, public education.

The Foundation has layered in additional supports including higher education and family supports at the I PROMISE Institute, transitional housing at the I PROMISE Village, longer-term housing

The LeBron James Family Foundation I PROMISE School is dedicated to helping at-risk youth succeed academically by creating a supportive, nurturing environment to learn and grow. It implements specialized programming to foster social-emotional learning for third, fourth and fifth grade students.

Mookie Betts and LeBron James salute each other

During the game, Betts blasted two home runs, each of which saw him and James salute each other after the Dodgers’ superstar crossed home. James also tipped his cap and bowed to Betts.

“I didn’t think about it until then,” Betts said of acknowledging James. “He’s done it during his games, so I returned the favor.”
