The Los Angeles Dodgers as a whole give back to the community and also have several players and other members of the organization who do so on an individual basis. The latest was part-owner Magic Johnson, who hosted a holiday event at Crete Academy to provide for underserved students.

In addition to the Dodgers, the L.A. Lakers and L.A. Rams assisted Johnson in putting together a day of carnival games, gifts and other entertainment at the local school. Fake snow and an opportunity to take a picture with Santa was also among the day’s activities.

More than 400 kids received a brand new bike, which were provided by Target, voucher for a helmet from a local shop, and toys donated by Mattel.

Johnson has a long history of giving back to those in need, and two weeks ago was at the forefront of an event to distribute food, books, toys and personal care items to 800 families.

Thank you to the @Lakers, @RamsNFL, and @Dodgers for supporting this incredible event and thank you to @CreteAcademy for allowing us to bless your students today! pic.twitter.com/HC04pU9M2S

I had the best time playing with the kids and watching them enjoy gaming trucks, horses, a train, arts and crafts, a bounce house, photos with Santa and so much more. Seeing the looks on their faces was amazing because I remember wanting a new bike myself! pic.twitter.com/L8fQmy1POW

Along with providing gifts, food and essential items, Johnson has helped the Dodgers raise awareness with respect to receiving the COVID-19 (coronavirus) vaccine, and for matters on the field, made himself available whenever needed for pitches in free agency.

Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation lends a hand

Last month the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation held two drive-thru events to distribute turkeys, sides and hygiene products. Over the two days they were accompanied by Mookie Betts and his wife Brianna, Tony Gonsolin, Alex Vesia, Justin Turner, Kourtney Turner and Fernando Valenzuela, among others.
