Dodgers Acquire Drew Finley From Yankees For Tim Locastro

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced that they have acquired pitcher Drew Finley from the New York Yankees in exchange for infielder/outfielder Tim Locastro, who was recently designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for prospects the Dodgers wanted to protect from the Rule 5 Draft.

The Dodgers also received cash considerations as a part of the trade.

Finley is the son of Dodgers Vice President of Amateur and International Scouting David Finley and was a third-round draft pick of the Yankees in 2015 out of Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego.

The 22-year-old was limited to just 27.1 innings across 16 games (one start) in 2018 with Low-A Staten Island. He pitched to a 7.24 ERA and 1.72 WHIP while striking out 33 and walking 20.

Finley has pitched a total of 120 Minor League innings across four professional seasons, yielding a 5.48 ERA and 1.57 WHIP.

Locastro is known for his speed as the Dodgers called him up in both 2017 and 2018 to be a pinch-running specialist. He stole all five of his attempts across those two seasons.

In 21 career Major League games, the 26-year-old has hit .167/.333/.250 with a double and six runs scored. He had a solid season with Triple-A Oklahoma City in 2018, slashing .279/.389/.409 with four home runs, 25 RBI, 61 runs scored and 18 stolen bases in 20 attempts.

Considering he was designated for assignment by the Dodgers, the Yankees must now add him to their 40-man roster. He will likely serve a similar role with the Yankees in 2019 that he did with the Dodgers the last couple of seasons.
