The 2023 MLB offseason began in full earnest on Thursday morning, kicking off what should be a busy next few months for the Los Angeles Dodgers as they look to improve a roster that fell short of returning to the World Series.

The Dodgers saw 12 players officially become free agents, and more could reach the open market in the coming weeks depending on option and tender decisions.

As it currently stands, the Dodgers only have seven players under guaranteed contracts for the 2024 season. That includes Max Muncy, who signed a two-year, $24 million contract extension through 2025.

The club also has 13 players under control who are eligible for salary arbitration and another 15 on the 40-man roster with less than three years of service time.

The MLB minimum salary for the 2024 season is $740,000, which is up from $720,000 in 2023.

Dodgers with less than 3 years of service time

Michael Busch

Michael Busch was among eight Dodgers who made their MLB debut during the 2023 season. The 25-year-old hit .167/.247/.292 with three doubles, two home runs and seven RBI in 27 games at the Major League level.

Diego Cartaya

Diego Cartaya was added to the Dodgers’ 40-man roster last offseason and spent the entire 2023 campaign with Double-A Tulsa. He batted .189/.278/.379 with 10 doubles, 19 home runs and 57 RBI in 93 games.

Jonny DeLuca

Jonny DeLuca made his MLB debut in June and hit .262/.311/.429 with one double, two home runs and six RBI across 24 games for the Dodgers.

Michael Grove

Michael Grove began the 2023 season in the Dodgers starting rotation but eventually transitioned to a relief role and earned a spot on their National League Division Series roster.

The right-hander went 2-3 with a 6.13 ERA, 4.36 FIP, 1.48 WHIP and 9.5 strikeouts per nine in 69 innings pitched over 18 games (12 starts).

Bryan Hudson

Bryan Hudson struggled in his first MLB action this season, posting a 7.27 ERA, 4.87 FIP and 1.85 WHIP across 8.2 innings of work.

Kyle Hurt

Kyle Hurt tossed two scoreless innings and collected three strikeouts in his MLB debut against the San Diego Padres on September 12 — his only appearance at the big league level.

Bobby Miller

Bobby Miller made his MLB debut in May and wound up becoming a key contributor of the Dodgers’ injury-plagued starting rotation.

He went 11-4 with a 3.76 ERA, 3.51 FIP and 1.10 WHIP in 124.1 innings across 22 starts, and also took the mound in Game 2 of the NLDS against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

James Outman

James Outman thrived as the Dodgers’ primary center fielder, hitting .248/.353/.437 with 16 doubles, three triples, 23 home runs, 70 RBI and 16 stolen bases in 151 games.

Andy Pages

Andy Pages appeared in just 34 games between the Drillers and OKC Dodgers this season before undergoing season-ending to repair a torn labrum in June.

Ryan Pepiot

Ryan Pepiot didn’t make his 2023 debut until August because of an oblique/intercostal injury, but quickly became one of the Dodgers’ most valuable pitchers.

The 26-year-old went 2-1 with a 2.14 ERA, 4.18 FIP and 0.76 WHIP in 42 innings pitched across eight games (three starts).

Emmet Sheehan

Emmet Sheehan had mixed results in his first taste of the Majors this season, going 4-1 with a 4.92 ERA, 4.85 FIP, 1.19 WHIP and 9.5 strikeouts per nine over 60.1 innings (13 games, 11 starts).

Gavin Stone

Gavin Stone did not fare well in his first season with the Dodgers, pitching to a 1-1 record, 9.00 ERA, 6.64 FIP and 1.90 WHIP in 31 innings pitched (eight games, four starts).

Miguel Vargas

Miguel Vargas opened the 2023 season as the Dodgers’ primary second baseman, but his struggles at the plate led to a demotion to OKC in the second half.

The 23-year-old hit just .195/.305/.367 with 15 doubles, four triples, seven home runs and 32 RBI in 81 games at the Major League level.

Gus Varland

Gus Varland began the 2023 season with the Milwaukee Brewers after being selected in the 2022 Rule 5 Draft, but was returned to the Dodgers this past May.

The 26-year-old found success in a relief role with L.A. before right knee inflammation ended his year in September.

Jorbit Vivas

Jorbit Vivas split the 2023 campaign between the Drillers and OKC Dodgers, batting .269/.381/.407 with 25 doubles, three triples, 13 home runs, 63 RBI and 25 stolen bases in 135 games.
