As Major League Baseball gets set to return, this week’s episode of “DodgerHeads” with host Jeff Spiegel and DodgerBlue.com senior writer/editor Daniel Starkand featured real baseball talk as opposed to focusing on negotiations with the Players Association.

The main topic of discussion was the Los Angeles Dodgers’ initial 51-man player pool that was officially unveiled at the beginning of the week. Each team can have up to 60 players, which means there likely will be more coming in the next few days.

Spiegel and Starkand did an overview on who those players can be, with at least one or two likely being a Dodgers’ 2020 MLB Draft pick.

They also took a stab at predicting the Dodgers’ Opening Day 30-man roster. Spiegel and Starkand only disagreed on the final two spots, with the former going with Adam Kolarek and Dylan Floro as the last relievers to make the roster, and the latter picking Caleb Ferguson and Jimmy Nelson.

With so much uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, a number of players have begun opting out of the 2020 season. Part of the discussion surrounded why fans should respect players that choose not to play, while part of it also was about which Dodgers players could potentially opt-out.

Finally, the show ended with a discussion on some storylines that could be present during Dodgers Summer Camp as well as how a 60-game season can be a benefit, as well as a potential curse to L.A.

With only 60 games being played, it will be extra important for the Dodgers’ starting pitchers to be ready to go on Opening Day to avoid a slow start.

That being said, it is also important for everyone to remain healthy, so it will be an interesting Summer Camp for the Dodgers as they get set to embark on a journey that they hope ends back in the World Series.
