Dodger Stadium Mask Policy Remains In Place Despite CDC Update

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated their guidelines this week for individuals who have been fully vaccinated, taking another step toward a return to normalcy. The Los Angeles Dodgers, however, continue to operate with the status quo in terms of mask wearing.

The protocols of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health that apply to Dodger Stadium continue to require that face coverings must be worn by all people, including fully vaccinated, while on the premises.

The Dodgers are required to comply with and enforce the state, county, and city protocols. Thus, fans must continue to wear an appropriate face covering when at Dodger Stadium, unless eating or drinking from their designated seat. Neck gaiters, bandanas and masks with valves are not considered appropriate face coverings.

Dodgers reach MLB threshold

The Dodgers this week became among the teams to have 85% of Tier 1 individuals (players, coaches, and those with direct access to them) become fully vaccinated. As such, the team can enjoy MLB health and safety protocols loosened.

The Dodgers reached the threshold as the New York Yankees and San Diego Padres are dealing with positive cases. “I think we were very mindful of that coming into the season and trying to get to that 85% while all along respecting peoples’ personal decisions,” manager Dave Roberts said.

“But ultimately to get to this point, the more guys you have vaccinated, you stay away from a situation like that.”

Triple-A Oklahoma City mask policy

MLB has deferred to local health authorities to determine the wearing of facial coverings while attending Minor League Baseball games, however a local mask ordinance is not in place for Oklahoma City.

As such, Triple-A Oklahoma City continues to strongly encourage fans to wear face masks, though they are no longer required at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. MLB also eliminated the requirement to provide a buffer zone between the dugout, bullpen and fans in attendance.

Double-A Tulsa mask policy

Meanwhile, the Double-A Tulsa Drillers no longer require fans who attend games at ONEOK Field to wear a protective mask.
