David Price Can’t Join Dodgers Until Symptom-Free

After the Los Angeles Dodgers placed David Price on the injured list this past weekend, manager Dave Roberts revealed the left-hander tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

Price, who is fully vaccinated, was immediately isolated as the Dodgers finished their series at Petco Park and continued their road trip against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Price had been in the clubhouse prior to his positive test, which lent to some concern over potential spread.

Though, Roberts expressed optimism the rest of the team and traveling party would be fine moving forward, which has held true thus far.

Meanwhile, Roberts said the 36-year-old will be unavailable while he continues to recover and can’t join the Dodgers until no longer experiencing symptoms, via SportsNet LA:

“As I understand it, until he’s symptom-free, he won’t be with the team. That’s kind of where I’m at. I don’t. All I got word was that he was symptomatic and tested positive.”

Price appeared on a Twitch live stream Wednesday afternoon and mentioned still being quarantined in a hotel room.

Price’s ramp-up for the 2022 season was slowed due dealing with elbow soreness that prevented him making his Spring Training debut until the final week of Cactus League play. The minor left elbow trouble was something Price has experienced for a brief stretch every spring during his career.

Price said he was eager to earn a spot in the Dodgers’ starting rotation, but thus far had again been used out of the bullpen. During the 2021 season, Price went 5-2 with a 4.03 ERA, 4.23 FIP and 1.43 WHIP across 73.2 innings pitched.

Price adjusted arm slot

In effort to bounce back from what he felt was a disappointing showing last year, Price changed his arm slot that allows to get more up and down movement on his pitches.
