The Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays combined to provide an all-time World Series matchup, as evident by viewership records in the United States and Canada.
There were 27.3 million viewers who tuned in to watch the winner-take-all Game 7 on Fox, making it the most-watched World Series game since 2017. The Fall Classic and MLB postseason as a whole also had their highest viewership in eight years.
The entire MLB community was enamored with the quality of play on the field, including current players like the Chicago Cubs’ Pete Crow-Armstrong. During “ESPN’s 2025 Rawlings Gold Glove Award show,” the Cubs All-Star said both teams represented MLB extremely well:
“I had a hard time, knowing that I wanted to be there. But what the Dodgers and Jays did in the series, and what they gave to the game, it was pretty incredible. I had so much fun watching the end of that series. I mean, so many props go out to both those clubs. I think that was such a good representation of Major League Baseball. The goal is always to be there next year, but for the circumstances, I think it was pretty cool to watch that series.”
The Cubs entered the 2025 postseason as the No. 4 seed, hosting the San Diego Padres in a Wild Card Series. They advanced to the National League Division Series and took the top-seeded Milwaukee Brewers the distance but fell short in the winner-take-all Game 5.
Crow-Armstrong enjoyed a lot of personal success as well, making his first All-Star team and winning his first Gold Glove award. The 23-year-old hit .247/.287/.481 with 37 doubles, four triples, 31 home runs, and 95 RBI. Armstrong’s .481 slugging percentage was 12th best in baseball.
Pete Crow-Armstrong playing for Team USA
The Dodgers did not have a 2025 Gold Glove Winner, but Crow-Armstrong was among the Cubs’ three winners. He was on hand for the annual MLB Awards Show in Las Vegas, during which it was revealed Crow-Armstrong committed to play for Team USA in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
