The Los Angeles Dodgers have two of the most talented middle infielders in baseball with Corey Seager and Trea Turner.

This past Sunday, both players hit the 100th home run of their careers in the series finale against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The duo became the first teammates to hit their 100th career homer in the same game since Jay Gibbons and Melvin Mora on Sept. 27, 2005.

“I heard that,” Seager said of Turner joining him in reaching the feat. “That’s really cool.”

Turner is widely praised as one of the most dynamic players in baseball, and Seager has enjoyed playing next to him every night.

“Really good player, it’s been fun to watch him play, it’s been fun to play against him and it’s been really fun to play with him,” Seager said. “We’re excited about what’s next.”

Both players have already won a World Series, with Seager also earning the 2020 World Series MVP and Turner playing an integral role in the Washington Nationals’ championship in 2019, so the Dodgers will be looking for them both to continue producing as they head into October.

Turner sees room for improvement

The Dodgers started their final homestand of the season with a 2-1 victory over the San Diego Padres. Turner’s RBI double gave them a lead in the first inning, and AJ Pollock added to it by driving in a run in the third.

While L.A. picked up a win, they went just 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position and stranded 13. The Dodgers also have only scored a combined seven runs in their past three games.

“I feel like we’re getting our fair share of hits, we just haven’t gotten the big rally together,” Turner said. “I don’t know why or whatever it may be. When we’ve got guys in scoring position, we’ve got to get it done.

“I definitely can look back at my at-bats in the last three, four or five games, and see where I could’ve driven in a few more runs. That’s what it takes, just a couple timely hits and we could score two or three times that. It is what it is.

“That’s why we have good pitching and why we have to fight for every run not only offensively, but defensively. You can win ballgames even if you’re not scoring a ton.”
