Cody Bellinger Frustrated By Losses To Reds Because He Believes Dodgers Are ‘Better Team’

The Los Angeles Dodgers have not been able to figure out the Cincinnati Reds in 2018, which is not ideal considering they have World Series aspirations and the Reds currently sit in last place in the National League Central.

The Reds swept the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium in May and have followed that up by taking the first two of a three-game series in Cincinnati after coming away with a 3-1 victory on Tuesday night.

Understandably frustrated, Cody Bellinger did not have a reason for the team’s struggles against the Reds, and he proclaimed the Dodgers to be the superior team, via Andy McCullough of the L.A. Times:

“I wish we had a theory, so we could play better against these teams,” Cody Bellinger said. He added, “It’s obviously frustrating. No discredit to the Reds — their lineup is good. And they’ve been pitching well. But at the end of the day, we’re the better team, obviously.”

With just 17 games left in the season, the Dodgers can’t afford to be losing games right now, especially to inferior opponents like the Reds. Luckily, the Arizona Diamondbacks were able to beat the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night, so the Dodgers’ deficit in the division remained at 1.5 games.

The biggest struggles for the Dodgers at the moment is at the plate, particularly with runners in scoring position, where they went 0-for-4 in the most recent loss to the Reds.

Things aren’t going to get any easier as after finishing up their series with the Reds on Wednesday afternoon, they will travel to St. Louis for a four-game series with the Cardinals, who also swept them at Dodger Stadium a couple weeks ago.
