Clayton Kershaw announced his plans to retire after the 2025 season, marking the end of a legendary 18-year career with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The left-hander made his final regular-season start at Dodger Stadium last week, allowing two runs in 4.1 innings pitched against the San Francisco Giants.

Kershaw ended his outing by striking out Rafael Devers looking and walked off the mound to a prolonged standing ovation.

The three-time Cy Young Award winner was further celebrated after the game when Dodgers manager Dave Roberts led a champagne toast that also recognized the team clinching a 13th consecutive postseason berth.

Kershaw addressed Dodgers fans before the team’s final home game of the regular season and expressed his gratitude for their continued support.

“Wow. It’s been an amazing 18 years. I want to thank each and every one of you for being here today. I wish I had more to say other than it’s just been incredible and I wouldn’t want it any other way,” he began.

“It’s been the most impactful 18 years of my life. I’ve raised four kids in L.A., and to get to be here with you today and say thank you one more time, it’s the most amazing thing in the world. Thank you guys so much. Thank you for everything. And remember, we’ve got another month left. So we’ll see you at the end of October.”

Clayton Kershaw’s stats at Dodger Stadium

In 228 career starts at Dodger Stadium, Kershaw went 117-42 with a 2.26 ERA and 0.99 WHIP over 1,479.2 innings pitched. He recorded 1,651 strikeouts against 350 walks and held opponents to a .207 batting average.

Kershaw pitched nine shutouts at Dodger Stadium, including his no-hitter against the Colorado Rockies on June 18, 2014.

Kershaw struck out 15 batters in the start and allowed just one baserunner, which came on a throwing error by Hanley Ramírez to begin the seventh inning.

Kershaw also made his only All-Star Game start at Dodger Stadium in 2022, which saw him throw a scoreless first inning.
