Chris Taylor Injury: Right Knee Pain Leads To Early Exit From Giants Series Opener

Hours after the Los Angeles Dodgers placed Max Muncy on the 10-day injured list because of a left hamstring strain, they had David Peralta and Chris Taylor both come out early against the San Francisco Giants in the series opener at Dodger Stadium.

Peralta suffered a strained left hamstring as a result of avoiding a tag from LaMonte Wade Jr. to reach on an infield single to lead off the second inning. He initially remained in the game but was removed when the third began.

The Dodgers announced Taylor was removed because of right knee pain. Taylor’s injury also occurred on his way down the first-base line. Taylor limped as he passed the bag on his groundout in the second inning but continued to play until Michael Busch pinch-hit in the fourth.

Busch was recalled as the corresponding move to Muncy going on the IL and already had been penciled in for a start at third base this weekend.

Meanwhile, Taylor’s early exit came one night after he delivered a game-tying grand slam and made a terrific diving tag play on Elvis Andrus.

The 32-year-old is among the Dodgers who has struggled throughout much of this season, but manager Dave Roberts has remained confident in the super utility man.

With Peralta and Taylor both coming out of the game, the Dodgers had five rookies playing in Emmet Sheehan, Miguel Vargas, Michael Busch, Jonny DeLuca and James Outman. Sheehan made his MLB debut.

MLB history: Chris Taylor grand slam

Taylor became the first player in MLB history for the first home run of his career and 100th both be a grand slam.
