Bo Bichette Rumors: Dodgers Have Preferences For Potential Signing

The Los Angeles Dodgers already figure to enter the 2026 season as the World Series favorite, but there remains the possibility of the rich getting richer.

In the time since making a splash by signing Edwin Díaz to a record-setting contract, the Dodgers continue to be connected to Cody Bellinger, Bo Bichette and Kyle Tucker in free agency. They are among reported big-market teams with varying levels of interest in each of the three players.

According to Matt Gelb and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Dodgers view Bichette as a second baseman and would look to sign him to a short-term contract that has a high average annual value:

The Los Angeles Dodgers loom as a possible destination for Bichette, viewing him as an option at second base if he is amenable to a lower-term, higher-salary contract structure.

As the market for Bichette was seemingly stagnant, it was reported he had a willingness of moving to second base. It’s the position Bichette played in the World Series upon returning from a knee injury, but one he otherwise hadn’t spent time at since the Minor Leagues.

Signing Bichette to play second base would possibly push Tommy Edman into a utility role, or he could be an answer in center field if his surgically-repaired ankle proves to be healthy.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers’ preference for a short contract at a high AAV was previously reflected in their pursuit of Bryce Harper in 2019 and is thought to be their thought with Tucker as well.

Dodgers, Phillies & more interested in Bo Bichette

In addition to the Dodgers, the Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies and Toronto Blue Jays are the teams that have been connected to Bichette.

The Phillies reportedly are scheduled to soon meet with the 27-year-old. It’s believed the Phillies would sign Bichette in order to play second base.
