All-Star Game Video: Corey Seager, Clayton Kershaw And Kenley Jansen Booed At Petco Park

The Los Angeles Dodgers didn’t place any starters in the 87th All-Star Game but they were represented by Kenley Jansen, Clayton Kershaw and Corey Seager. However, because Kershaw is on the disabled list with a back injury, only Jansen and Seager participated.

Despite Kershaw not appearing in the Midsummer Classic, he was included in the same activities other elected All-Stars enjoyed. On Tuesday, Kershaw was among the participants who were driven in the back of trucks to Petco Park during the All-Star Game Red Carpet Show.

The left-handed ace, dressed in his Dodgers uniform, stood along the third base line with the other National League pitchers and reserves.

Each player was introduced on the PA system, which for Jansen, Kershaw and Seager, was accompanied with a chorus of boos. Seager appeared to be caught off guard, while Kershaw embraced it and Jansen looked unmoved:

Although it wasn’t with the same vigor, San Francisco’s Madison Bumgarner and Buster Posey were booed, and so too were Carlos Beltran, Dellin Betances and Andrew Miller of the New York Yankees.

The Dodgers generally draw plenty of cheers during regular-season series with the San Diego Padres at Petco Park. Given the Padres’ ongoing struggles and the Dodgers’ surge over the past three seasons, it’s not uncommon for Los Angeles fans to outnumber their counterparts despite it being a road game.

The Dodgers’ next series in San Diego doesn’t begin until Tuesday, Sept. 27. They’re 4-2 at Petco Park this season, including a three-game sweep of the 2016 Opening Series.
