The Los Angeles Dodgers eliminated the Philadelphia Phillies to advance to the National League Championship Series for a second consecutive year.
While the Dodgers fell short of sweeping the Phillies, they bounced back with a dramatic walk-off win at Dodger Stadium in Game 4. It was completed before the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs began their Game 4 matchup, which has the Dodgers awaiting their NLCS opponent. Milwaukee came up short against Chicago, who forced a winner-take-all Game 5 on Saturday.
If the Brewers advance, it will amount to the Dodgers facing the team that finished with the best record in baseball at 97-65. The Brewers earned a first-round bye in the postseason and automatic spot in the NLDS, just like the Phillies. The Brewers would have home-field advantage in the NLCS if they eliminate the Cubs.
The Dodgers and Brewers have met two other times in MLB postseason history. Their most recent matchup came in the 2020 NL Wild Card Series. L.A. swept Milwaukee in two games as part of their run to winning the World Series.
The Dodgers also eliminated the Brewers in Game 7 of the 2018 NLCS to advance to that year’s Fall Classic, where they would fall to the Boston Red Sox.
If the Cubs come back against the Brewers, the Dodgers would have home-field advantage and host Game 1 of the NLCS is at Dodger Stadium on Oct. 13.
Like the Dodgers, the Cubs reached the postseason this year as a Wild Card team. They defeated the San Diego Padres in three games in order to reach the NLDS.
Regardless of the scenario, all NLCS games will air on TBS, with streaming available through HBO Max.
