Justin Wrobleski Not Expected To Miss Start With Hamstring Injury

Justin Wrobleski and Shohei Ohtani both exited the Los Angeles Dodgers’ win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday with injuries.

However, both seem to have avoided anything serious and shouldn’t miss any time. Ohtani is expected to be back in the lineup on Friday after exiting with left knee inflammation.

As for Wrobleski, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he’s fine and was more frustrated by not being able to go deeper in the game.

“I had two outs in that fifth inning and everything pretty much coming with two outs is frustrating,” Wrobleski said on SportsNet LA. “I just didn’t throw the ball very well today as a whole, even before then. Just one of those outings where I felt like I didn’t throw very great.

“It happens, that’s part of the game. It’s what keeps you coming back. I just felt like I didn’t quite have the command I usually have early in counts, and I think it cost me.”

Wrobleski was hit by a comebacker on his right hamstring and then tripped and fell while attempting to cover first base. He walked off the field with a trainer but under his own power.

The Dodgers later announced Wrobleski suffered a right hamstring contusion.

“It got me straight in the hamstring,” Wrobleski said of the comebacker. “I’m trying to get over there and make a play. It’s really hard to get over there on a play where Freddie’s got to throw it, and I’ve got to catch it and find the bag, and get a guy that’s a pretty good runner.

“It’s a tough play to make, and I just missed the base.”

Wrobleski said he’s receiving treatment for the contusion but remains confident it won’t affect him moving forward.

“I’ll be good to go,” Wrobleski said. “It’s a little bruised right now but I’ll be fine.”

Roberts also expects Wrobleski to make his next scheduled start without issue. “I feel very, very confident he’ll be in there for his next turn,” Roberts said.

Justin Wrobleski avoided collision with Bryan Reynolds

Although it appeared Wrobleski may have collided with Reynolds at first base, he instead just got crossed up and fell and didn’t hit the ground as a result of a collision.

“Thankfully, he got out of the way enough to where we barely touched each other, I think,” Wrobleski said. “You’d have to ask him, but it felt like we barely touched each other. He’s OK, I’m OK. So all’s good there.”
