The Los Angeles Dodgers unveiled a new alternate road jersey on Thursday and wore the blue top for the first time in the series opener against the Washington Nationals.
The blue alternate joins the gray “Dodgers” script jersey and gray “Los Angeles” script jersey as their options for a road uniform. It’s the first time in franchise history the Dodgers have ever incorporated a blue jersey for regular season games away from Dodger Stadium.
Doing so satisfied a large faction of the Dodgers fanbase and also Justin Turner.

Shortly after the Dodgers revealed their new alternate road jersey, Turner had a positive response and referenced bringing up the idea during his time with the team.

“I know the @Dodgers home whites are a classic and should never be changed. But I def think our spring training blue tops should be a road alternative!! Thoughts??” Turner wrote in an Instagram caption during Spring Training in 2021.
Since that point and up until Friday, the only blue jersey the Dodgers wore was part of their inaugural City Connect design that was unveiled in 2021. That blue jersey featured a “Los Dodgers” script across the jersey and was paired with blue pants. It was the first time in franchise history the Dodgers ever wore blue pants.
Turner was among the players the Dodgers used in their marketing materials to reveal the new look. But that was his only opportunity to wear a blue Dodgers jersey during the regular season as he went on to sign with the Boston Red Sox in free agency that offseason. He otherwise was limited to do doing so for Spring Training games.
The new blue jersey features the “Los Angeles” script across the placket, which has adorned Dodgers road jerseys from 1959 to 1969, and 1999 to present day.
It also has the “Dodgers” script across the sleeve that does not have the Guggenheim patch. That makes the new road alternate their first jersey to feature a patch with the text logo rather than their interlocking “LA” logo.
Still intact from traditional Dodgers jerseys is the player number in red, though outlined in gray in effort to improve legibility.
