Los Angeles Dodgers fans recently learned of a heartbreaking story when it was revealed that former outfielder Andrew Toles was arrested for trespassing after being found sleeping behind the Federal Express building located at Key West International Airport in Florida.

The police report indicated Toles was asked to leave the premises and upon failing to do so, was arrested. Toles has not been with the Dodgers since Spring Training in 2019 when he went away for what was described as a personal matter and was later placed on the restricted list.

It was known that Toles had dealt with mental health issues in the past, but no one knew what he has been up to for the last year-plus and just how bad his condition is.

In a detailed account by Bob Nightengale of USA Today, members of the Dodgers organization and Toles’ family shared insight into the troubles he’s been facing.

Toles’ family detailed what Toles has been part of since leaving the Dodgers, and it includes being in and out of mental hospitals, getting arrested on multiple occasions, running away from family and refusing to get help.

The Dodgers organization and players have been very involved in Toles’ life trying to get him that help, and that includes Justin Turner, who has offered assistance:

Alvin Toles said that several of his son’s former teammates and current Dodgers players reached out last weekend. All-Star third baseman Justin Turner even offered to pay for Toles’ medical bills for treatment.

It is good to see the Dodgers wanting to get involved, but Toles needs to be receptive to getting help for anything to be done. It was recently reported that he was released from jail on bail, which his family actually didn’t like as it could again lead to being uncertain on his whereabouts.

Toles was a fan-favorite in his time with the Dodgers, and now everyone is rooting for him to get his life back on track. Hopefully he is open to getting the help he needs and he can be on the road to recovery as soon as possible.
