Justin Turner reached 1,000 career hits with the Los Angeles Dodgers in their 4-0 loss to the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night. He became the 35th player in franchise history to achieve the milestone.

Turner collected his 1,000th hit with the Dodgers on a line-drive infield single in the seventh inning that went off White Sox relief pitcher Reynaldo Lopez’s glove. Turner was among the five Dodgers who had each had one hit in the shutout loss.

L.A. had their losing streak extended to three games and have now dropped six of the last eight.

Although Turner could appreciate the personal milestone, he told Kirsten Watson on SportsNet LA that his preference would have been for the Dodgers to also win the game:

“It’s pretty cool to do it with one organization. I guess it means I’ve been playing for a while. But I would’ve liked to have had it come in a win. I have the ball and I’ll put it in a case and have it up on my shelf somewhere.”

Now in his ninth season with the Dodgers, Turner’s best production in terms of hits were when he had a career-best 153 in 2016. Turner followed that with 147 hits en route to earning All-Star Game honors in 2017 by shattering the Final Vote record.

Last season, Turner reached 500 career RBI with the Dodgers.

Justin Turner’s Dodgers record

In August 2020, Turner passed Zack Wheat for the Dodgers hit by pitch record. Wheat was plunked 73 times in 2,322 over 18 seasons with Brooklyn. Turner reached the milestone in a mere 766 games with the Dodgers.

“I don’t think many kids are dreaming about holding that record,” he told DodgerBlue.com at the time. “But I don’t think I’m catching anyone on the Dodgers home run list.”
