Juan Soto Rumors: Dodgers Next On List Of Team Meetings

The Los Angeles Dodgers were significant players in free agency last offseason and could be so again this winter with the likes of Juan Soto, Corbin Burnes and Blake Snell among those available on the open market.

Soto’s market has included the Toronto Blue Jays, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets and incumbent New York Yankees. There is a strong belief he’ll remain in New York, but when addressing his free agency outlook at the conclusion of the World Series, Soto said all interested teams would receive consideration.

Soto and agent Scott Boras began meeting with teams in Southern California last week and will continue doing so in the days ahead.

According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the Dodgers are next on the list of planned meetings for Soto and his agency:

According to sources, the Dodgers will be the next team to sit down with Soto, holding their meeting with him early this week, possibly as soon as Tuesday.

It’s believed Soto has already met with the Blue Jays, Red Sox and Mets. The Yankees were scheduled for their opportunity at some point on Monday.

Given his talent and interest, expectations are Soto will sign a long-term contract that is likely to exceed $600 million in total value.

The 26-year-old has played one season with the Yankees thus far after being traded to the team in December 2023.

Will the Dodgers try to sign Juan Soto?

Although the Dodgers are scheduled for a meeting with Soto, how much interest they have in being part of the sweepstakes is unclear.

It was previously reported the Dodgers would not make a full-fledge effort to compete with other interested teams in order to sign the 2024 All-MLB performer.

Seemingly tied to what transpires with Soto is the future of Teoscar Hernández, who has a deadline on Tuesday to accept or reject the qualifying offer from the Dodgers.

The Yankees reportedly would pivot toward pursuing Hernández in the event they are spurned by Soto.
