Jason Heyward was back at Dodger Stadium on Friday night to receive his 2024 Los Angeles Dodgers World Series ring during a pregame ceremony.
Heyward was presented with his second career World Series ring by close friend Freddie Freeman, who was instrumental in the Dodgers signing the veteran outfielder.
Like with Gavin Lux on Monday night, several of Heyward’s former teammates took the field to present him with the ring, MLB gold program jersey and Dodgers World Series champions cap. The group included Mookie Betts, Miguel Rojas, Kiké Hernández and manager Dave Roberts, among others.

Heyward originally joined the Dodgers on a Minor League contract before the 2023 season and earned his way onto their roster before Opening Day. He then re-signed with the team on a $9 million contract for 2024.
“It’s amazing to have people believe in you,” Heyward said of returning to the Dodgers. “That’s something that’s earned, for sure. Especially with the Dodgers. They don’t hand out these jerseys lightly. It’s just a privilege to come back here and wear No. 23 for this group, this fan base and city.
“Just want to work hard, have fun and compete.”
Heyward struggled last season and was released by the Dodgers amid a roster crunch and changes with Mookie Betts shifting out to right field. He went on to sign with the Houston Astros for the remainder of the 2024 season.
Heyward then signed with the San Diego Padres and began this season as their everyday right fielder. However, he dealt with left knee inflammation that required a stint on the injured list and Heyward never gained much traction.
The Padres designated the 16-year veteran for assignment in June, and Heyward was released upon clearing waivers. It’s not clear if the 36-year-old will pursue future opportunities or retire.
Jason Heyward wins Dodgers award
Heyward’s time with the Dodgers included being voted the recipient of the 18th annual Roy Campanella Award, which is given each year to one player from the team who best exemplifies the spirit and leadership of the late Hall of Fame catcher.
Heyward (2003) joined Rafael Furcal (2006), Jamey Carroll (2010) and Freddie Freeman (2022) as the only first-year Dodgers to win the Roy Campanella Award.
“It’s really cool to be recognized by things, especially awards I feel like are about team and pulling everyone in one direction,” Heyward said of the honor.
“When you have your teammates acknowledge you and want to make sure you get recognized for it, it’s really special. Because that’s not my intent. That’s just part of who I am and have always been. I want the best for everyone on and off the field. First year with the team, it’s very, very special.”
