James Tibbs III Named Pacific Coast League Player Of The Week For March 31-April 5

In addition to the Los Angeles Dodgers having Andy Pages recognized for a strong performance, James Tibbs III received the same honor in the Minor Leagues.

Tibbs was named Pacific Coast League Player of the Week for the period of March 31-April 5. He started in six games for Triple-A Oklahoma City during that span, going 10-for-25 (.400) with a 1.523 on-base plus slugging percentage behind one double, five home runs and four walks.

Tibbs had a particularly memorable performance against the Las Vegas Aviators on April 4, when he went 4-for-5 with three home runs. That was his first career three-homer game and the first such performance by an Oklahoma City player since Ryan Ward on May 29, 2025, which was also achieved at Las Vegas Ballpark.

Overall in nine games with Oklahoma City this season, Tibbs is batting .474/.535/1.184 with four doubles, one triple, seven home runs and 13 RBI. He’s hit safely in all but one game and reached base in every contest entering play Tuesday.

Tibbs ranks first in the PCL with 18 hits, extra-base hits (12), total bases (45), runs scored (15), slugging percentage and OPS (1.719); is tied for the lead in home runs, and second in batting average and fourth in on-base percentage.

The 2026 season is Tibbs’ first time playing at the Triple-A level. His strong start is an extension of performing well during Spring Training. Tibbs was among the Dodgers prospect to participate in the Spring Breakout game this year, during which he homered.

How the Dodgers acquired James Tibbs III

Last season the Dodgers traded Dustin May to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for Zach Ehrhard and Tibbs. It was the second time Tibbs was traded in 2025, as he previously had been sent from the San Francisco Giants to the Red Sox as part of their deal to acquire Rafael Devers.

The 23-year-old has seemingly found a home in the Dodgers organization and ranks as their No. 10 overall prospect, according to MLB Pipeline.

Some regression is certainly to be expected, but if Tibbs continues to perform well with the Comets there is a possibility of making his MLB debut at some point during the 2026 season. However, one potential obstacle to that is he first would need to be added onto the Dodgers’ 40-man roster.
