The Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Kings continued their annual collaboration with the hockey club hosting Tony Gonsolin on Saturday, Jan. 14, at Crypto.com Arena for their promotional Dodgers Night.

Gonsolin took part in the ceremonial puck drop before the game against the New Jersey Devils, and the Kings gave away Dodgers co-branded sunglasses to fans in attendance. Additionally, fans who purchased a special ticket package received a special co-branded jersey shirt.

The Kings took an early lead in the game on a powerplay goal from Kevin Fiala, but it was mostly downhill as they dropped the game 5-2.

Despite the loss, it was still an enjoyable night for Gonsolin, and some of the Kings players made sure to eat a Dodger Dog while sharing their favorite toppings.

The video featured Kings forward and Thousand Oaks native Trevor Moore adding “a little ketchup” that is “probably a little frowned upon,” which incited a bit of a Twitter debate with opponents and proponents making their case in the comments.

Kings Captain Anze Kopitar also made sure to add onions, which he joked is especially important “if you go with your buddies.”

The Kings entered the game on a hot streak, going 7-2-1 in their previous 10 games, along with a three-game winning streak, but the Devils were also playing well heading into the game.

Both teams look destined for the playoffs as the Kings are currently tied for second in the Pacific Division with a 25-15-6 record (56 points), and only two points behind the division-leading Vegas Golden Knights, while the Devils are in second and trail the division-leading Carolina Hurricanes by one point.

Dodgers and Tony Gonsolin did not agree to contract at arbitration deadline

Coming off a first career All-Star season, Gonsolin was among the arbitration-eligible players who was tendered a contract by the Dodgers. Of their 10 arbitration-eligible players, nine agreed to one-year deals before the deadline for teams and players to exchange salary figures.

Gonsolin was the lone stand out from the group as he did not agree to a deal and filed for a $3.4 million salary while the Dodgers countered at $3 million. The two sides can continue to work on a deal, but if they can’t come to terms, they will head to an arbitration hearing.
