Trea Turner became the latest member of the Los Angeles Dodgers to reflect on the 2022 season and thank the fanbase for their support throughout a year that ended well short of the organization’s World Series aspirations.

The 29-year-old took to Instagram to reflect on the Dodgers’ “special year,” and mention how he and his teammates wish they could “rewrite it” before thanking the fans for “packing out the stadium every night.”

Previously, Justin Turner, Brusdar Graterol, and Yency Almonte also turned to social media to offer fans their end-of-season thoughts express gratitude.

Trea Turner was an integral part to the Dodgers setting a new franchise record of 111 wins during the regular season as he earned a second All-Star Game appearance.

Turner additionally set new career highs in RBI (100) and doubles (39). Amongst all qualified shortstops he finished second in batting average (.298), third in on-base plus slugging percentage (.809), eighth in home runs (21), and seventh in stolen bases (27).

Turner combined with Freddie Freeman Freeman to become the first set of teammates since Babe Ruth and Bob Meusel for the 1921 New York Yankees to finish their season with at least 190 hits, 100 RBI, 35 doubles, 20 home runs, 10 stolen bases and multiple 12-game hitting streaks.

Trea Turner free agency sweepstakes

Now that Turner has completed his final year of salary arbitration, the 2021 NL batting champion is days from entering free agency for the first time in his career.

Turner, widely considered to be one of the most talented players in the game, is expected to be among the top free agents available.

While rumors have begun to swirl regarding him, especially after the Dodgers were unable to agree to a contract extension before the 2022 season, various teams will be sure to make a run for the All-Star shortstop.

Over the last two offseasons, comparable shortstops to Turner, Carlos Correa and Corey Seager, also hit the free agent market and found new contracts worth well of $30 million annually.
