Losers of three consecutive games, the Los Angeles Dodgers faced a split-squad Seattle Mariners team at Camelback Ranch on Sunday. Julio Urias turned in a pair of scoreless innings, Yasiel Puig hit his first home run of the spring, and the Dodgers took advantage of the Mariners’ three errors.

Urias quickly retired the side in order in the first inning, then labored a bit in the second as he worked around a one-out walk. Justin Turner was hit by a pitch in the first inning, and Scott Van Slyke singled off Andrew Moore in the second but neither baserunner led to a run.

Sergio Romo allowed a single in the third inning but otherwise continued with his strong showing in spring by collecting a pair of strikeouts. Mitch Haniger drew a leadoff walk in the fourth and Danny Valencia followed with a base hit to give the Mariners their first threat of the game.

However, Yaisel Sierra induced a double play and groundout to complete a scoreless inning out of the bullpen. Puig’s solo home run to deep left-center field gave the Dodgers a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth.

Tyler Smith was stranded in the fifth inning after hitting a one-out triple off Sierra. Two batters after Cody Bellinger’s leadoff single in the bottom of the fifth, an error on Mariners third baseman Zach Shank left runners on first and second with one out.

A Charlie Culberson groundout advanced Bellinger to third base, and he eventually scored on a wild pitch to give the Dodgers a 2-0 lead. However, that was erased in the sixth inning when Josh Ravin allowed a three-run homer to Kyle Waldrop.

Turner sparked a rally with a lead off single in the bottom of the sixth, and he advanced to third base on a throwing error that also left Puig on second base. The Mariners’ second wild pitch of the game allowed Turner to score.

Bellinger then broke the 3-3 tie with an RBI single to center field. Willie Calhoun, appearing in his first game of the spring, provided some insurance with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The Mariners’ defensive woes put them in a bases-loaded jam, and Henry Ramos capitalized by hitting an RBI single. Jose Miguel Fernandez’s sacrifice fly gave the Dodgers a 7-3 lead before the inning came to an end.

Andrew Istler followed Josh Sborz’s two shutout innings with a scoreless ninth to complete the Dodgers’ 7-3 win.
