David Price labored in his Los Angeles Dodgers debut and Julio Urias also wasn’t sharp in his first time pitching this year, which were factors in a 6-2 loss to the Cincinnati Reds at Goodyear Ballpark.

Price was the victim of a tight strike zone and subpar weather conditions as a leadoff walk and fly ball of a double gave the Reds two runners in scoring position with one out in the first inning. Jesse Winker’s two-run single gave Cincinnati an early lead.

Price struck out Matt Davidson to start the second inning but followed that with a walk and was removed at 39 pitches. His day finished at three runs on two hits and a pair of walks, and three strikeouts.

Julio Urias was hurt by an error to start the third inning and didn’t help his cause by issuing a walk to put two on with nobody out. Curt Casali extended the Reds’ lead with an RBI single and Derek Dietrich’s sacrifice fly plated another; both runs were unearned.

Urias failed to make it through the fourth inning as he was removed with two outs and at 27 pitches. Although his 2020 Spring Training debut was out of the bullpen, Urias has been named to the Opening Day rotation.

Josiah Gray also was unable to complete an inning in relief. He allowed a two-run single to Dietrich before being removed with one out in the fifth.

For much of the game the Dodgers’ only run came on Matt Beaty’s solo homer in the second inning that momentarily cut their deficit in half. Terrance Gore’s sacrifice fly in the eighth brought in another run.

Sonny Gray had two strikeouts over 2.2 innings, and Trevor Bauer scattered a pair of hits while also collecting two strikeouts across three scoreless innings.
