The Los Angeles Dodgers are back on the road for a Spring Training matchup with the Texas Rangers, who are playing split-squad games Wednesday afternoon. The Rangers have the longest active winning streak in the Cactus League at three games.

Dustin May takes the mound for his first start of the spring as he looks to further distance himself from Tommy John surgery in 2021. May has a solidified spot in the Dodgers starting rotation for Opening Day but may be under some workload limitations for his first full season since the operation.

May faces a Rangers lineup that features former Dodgers teammate Corey Seager. The three-time All-Star is entering his second season with the Rangers.

Seager has only appeared in three games so far this spring, going 2-for-7 with one home run, three RBI and three strikeouts.

Gavin Stone, Brusdar Graterol, Jimmy Nelson, Caleb Ferguson, Tyler Cyr, Tayler Scott and Wander Suero are also scheduled to pitch against the Rangers as well.

Texas counters with Andrew Heaney, who spent last season with the Dodgers after signing a one-year contract. Heaney received a multi-year deal with the Rangers and now looks to be part of their revitalized pitching staff.

Like May, Heaney is making his 2023 Spring Training debut.

The southpaw faces a Dodgers lineup that includes regulars Mookie Betts, Trayce Thompson, Will Smith, Chris Taylor and Miguel Vargas.

Taylor is starting at shortstop, where he’ll serve as the backup to Miguel Vargas in the wake of Gavin Lux suffering a season-ending ACL tear and sprained LCL in his right knee. There were limitations on Taylor’s positional flexibility last season due to right elbow surgery, but he’s in better health this year.

Vargas still is not cleared to begin taking swings in games. He nonetheless has drawn two walks in four plate appearances across two starts.

Dodgers lineup

RF: Mookie Betts
