Rockies Claim Ashton Goudeau Off Waivers From Dodgers

The Colorado Rockies claimed Ashton Goudeau off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was outrighted and removed from L.A.’s 40-man roster as the corresponding move to Brusdar Graterol being reinstated from the 10-day injured list.

The Dodgers originally claimed Goudeau off waivers from the San Francisco Giants on April 10 and added him to an already-full 40-man roster. However, a corresponding move was not required at the time due to Graterol reportedly being on the COVID-19-related injured list.

Goudeau was never added to the Dodgers’ active roster and will now have an opportunity to get back to the Major League-level with the team he pitched for last season.

The right-hander appeared in four games with the Rockies a year ago in what marked his first work on a big league mound. He pitched to a 7.56 ERA, 8.47 FIP and 2.04 WHIP with two strikeouts against two walks in 8.1 innings pitched.

One of those appearances came against the Dodgers, when Goudeau allowed three runs on three hits in one inning.

Goudeau is a lifetime 29-48 with a 4.81 ERA and 499 strikeouts over eight Minor League seasons. He was originally selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 27th round of the 2012 Draft out of Maple Woods Community College.

Prior to rejoining the Rockies, Goudeau enjoyed brief stints with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Baltimore Orioles, Giants and Dodgers on a series of waiver claims.

Dodgers’ 10-day injured list picture

With Graterol being activated off the injured list, the Dodgers now have just two pitchers currently sidelined with injuries. Joe Kelly and Tony Gonsolin both are dealing with right shoulder inflammation and don’t appear to be close to returning.

As for position players, Gavin Lux was recently placed on the 10-day IL with right wrist soreness. He joined Cody Bellinger, who initially was diagnosed with a left calf contusion.

However, it has since been revealed that the 25-year-old sustained a hairline fracture when he was spiked in the left calf on April 5.

“He kind of hit a plateau as far as getting better each day, so we had a scan,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said last week. “It showed a little hairline fracture. It hasn’t really changed the course of timetable, so right now it’s more of getting that thing healed up.

“When he’s ready to go he’ll be back with us.”
