Recap: Rockies Get To Blake Treinen, Snapping Dodgers’ Winning Streak

Tony Gonsolin turned in a strong outing and the Los Angeles Dodgers again erased a deficit but they never managed to get over the hump and Blake Treinen stumbled in a 5-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies. It snapped the Dodgers’ winning streak at six games and their string of victories at Dodger Stadium at 11.

Gonsolin was hurt by a fluke play in the second inning after Charlie Blackmon hit a leadoff double. Mookie Betts then made a leaping catch at the wall in right-center field to rob Kevin Pillar of extra bases, only to drop the ball on the transfer.

It allowed Blackmon to score on the sacrifice fly and Betts error. Blackmon’s solo home run in the fourth inning then put the Dodgers’ in a 2-0 deficit.

That was all Gonsolin allowed as he got through six innings and tied a career high with eight strikeouts. Blackmon went 2-for-2 against the Dodgers rookie, while the rest of the Rockies were a combined 1-for-19.

L.A. began their comeback in the fifth inning, scoring a pair of runs with two outs. A Gavin Lux leadoff walk was nearly stranded but Betts atoned for his miscue allowing a run to come in by pulling an RBI single into left field.

He then raced around the bases on Corey Seager’s line drive that rolled to the wall in center field.

Victor Gonzalez was first out of the stout Dodgers bullpen, and he out three and retired all five batters faced. Blake Treinen recorded the final out in the eighth inning but struggled mightily in the ninth.

Raimel Tapia, Trevor Story and Nolan Arenado all going the other way for three consecutive base hits, breaking the 2-2 tie. Alex Wood didn’t fare much better, allowing a two-run double before he could get the Dodgers out of the inning.

L.A. will head into Sunday night’s game needing a win to avoid their first series loss of the season.
