After clinching the National League West title on Saturday, the Los Angeles Dodgers played many of their backups but still managed to come away with a 6-1 victory to sweep the Seattle Mariners.

Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Will Smith, Max Muncy and Miguel Rojas were all on the bench for the series finale, but Jason Heyward and Austin Barnes stepped up with each hitting a home run in the game.

Heyward opened the scoring in the first inning with a solo homer as he continued his red-hot hitting in Seattle. He finished a triple from completing the cycle.

The Dodgers added on in the second inning when Kolten Wong singled following a triple from Amed Rosario. Rosario ended up finishing a home run away from the cycle.

From there, Austin Barnes doubled the lead with his second home run of the season, putting the Dodgers up 4-0.

In the fourth inning, Heyward drove in his second run of the game with a single to right field, driving in Rosario. The veteran right-fielder finished the series 8-for-13 with four doubles, one home run, two runs scored and two RBI.

The Dodgers added one more run in the eighth when James Outman hit a solo home run, showing some life amid a slump at the plate.

Shelby Miller opened the game for the Dodgers and pitched a scoreless inning. Although Gavin Stone was expected to pitch the bulk of the innings, it was actually Ryan Yarbrough who was the first man out of the bullpen and pitched the majority of the game.

Yarbrough turned in a strong outing, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up one run. His seven strikeouts also set his season high, topping the mark of five he put up four times this season.

The southpaw came out of the game in the sixth inning with two outs when it became Stone’s turn to pitch. Stone ended up pitching the final 3.1 innings, striking out five without giving up a run.

Dave Roberts appreciated atmosphere Dodgers played in against Mariners

With so much on the line for Seattle as they compete for a playoff spot, their fans were locked in during the series at T-Mobile Park against the Dodgers while Mariners manager Scott Servais managed with extra urgency. That created a playoff-like atmosphere, which Dodgers manager Dave Roberts appreciated.
