Recap: Dodgers’ Offense Goes Silent Against Reds, Extending Losing Streak To 4 Games

The Los Angeles Dodgers’ losing streak reached four games as their offense failed to come through in any situation against the Cincinnati Reds in a 3-1 game.

L.A. had numerous chances to score, but their only run came with the bases loaded and no outs in the second inning when Jason Heyward grounded into a double play that tied the game.

In the fourth, Freddie Freeman hit a leadoff double, but didn’t move off of second base before the inning ended. A one-out triple from Shohei Ohtani gave the Dodgers another chance to score, but Freeman flied out and Will Smith popped out.

Overall, the Dodgers went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position, leaving four runners on base.

Some credit has to be given to Hunter Greene, who threw six innings, giving up just five hits and one walk with five strikeouts. But the lack of offense has been a consistent trend for the Dodgers following their hot streak in the middle of the month.

As for Walker Buehler, he was solid, but unspectacular. Buehler threw 5.2 innings giving up three runs on six hits while walking one and striking out four.

Spencer Steer homered in the first inning for the second consecutive game to put the Reds up 1-0, and Will Benson hit another home run in the second inning to make it a 2-1 game.

Buehler pitched three consecutive scoreless innings after that, but he allowed a leadoff double in the sixth, which was followed by an RBI single from Elly De La Cruz for their third run of the game.

From there, both pitching staffs limited their opponents the rest of the game.

It’s the Dodgers’ first four-game losing streak since June 3-7, 2023.

Dodgers vs. Reds time change for Sunday game

First pitch at Great American Ball Park on Sunday was moved up to a 9:10 a.m. PT start. The Dodgers and Reds were originally slated to play the finale of their three-game series at 10:40 a.m. PT.

The change was prompted by an expected rain storm to impact the area Sunday afternoon.
