With a win Wednesday night, the Los Angeles Dodgers can take back-to-back series for only the second time this season. Moreover, it would also pull them to within 3.5 games of the first-place Colorado Rockies in the National League West.

It’s not a scenario many could have predicted when the Dodgers were scuttling and the Arizona Diamondbacks were creating plenty of separation in the division standings. But Los Angeles has won five of their last six, while Arizona has dropped seven in a row and 12 of the last 13.

Kenta Maeda makes the start for the Dodgers on an extra day of rest. Maeda is coming off a dominant performance against the Miami Marlins in which he tossed eight shutout innings, limiting them to two hits and recording eight strikeouts.

Maeda enters 3-3 with a 3.89 ERA, 2.79 FIP and 1.29 WHIP in nine games (eight starts). The Dodgers made a change in the bullpen, with Edward Paredes replacing J.T. Chargois, who was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Their lineup also looks different when compared to recent games but familiar in the historical sense, as Chris Taylor is back in the leadoff spot. Max Muncy receives another start at first base but is hitting eighth.

The Dodgers will look to get to Kyle Freeland, who is 4-4 with a 3.17 ERA, 3.74 FIP and 1.15 WHIP. He’s curiously struggled away from Coors Field, going 2-3 with a 4.15 ERA in six starts.

Whether at home or on the road, the southpaw has recorded at least five strikeouts in his lave five outings and seven of nine starts overall.

Dodgers lineup:

SS: Chris Taylor
C: Austin Barnes
3B: Justin Turner
LF: Matt Kemp
CF: Kiké Hernandez
2B: Logan Forsythe
RF: Yasiel Puig
1B: Max Muncy
P: Kenta Maeda

Rockies lineup:

CF: Charlie Blackmon
RF: David Dahl
3B: Nolan Arenado
LF: Gerardo Parra
SS: Trevor Story
1B: Ian Desmond
C: Chris Iannetta
2B: Daniel Castro
P: Kyle Freeland
