The Los Angeles Dodgers erased an early deficit and went on for a 10-5 win against the New York Mets in Game 6 to close out the National League Championship Series.

The Dodgers’ 22nd NL pennant in franchise history has them back in the World Series for the for the fourth time in the last eight years. Awaiting them is the New York Yankees, who reached the Fall Classic for the first time since 2009.

Tommy Edman was instrumental in the Dodgers clinching the NL title on Sunday night as he drove in a game-high four runs.

Edman began his big night with a two-run double in the first inning that gave the Dodgers a 2-1 lead. Edman’s extra-base hit came after Teoscar Hernández inexplicably was held to a 404-foot single that hit off the wall in center field.

While that was a mental lapse by Hernández, he did end a personal drought in the NLCS with two hits in Game 6.

But the night undeniably belonged to Edman, who extended the Dodgers’ lead to 6-1 with a two-run homer in the third inning. It seemingly cemented NLCS MVP honors for Edman, and gave him 11 RBI in the NLCS, tying a Dodgers postseason record that belonged to Corey Seager for most in a single series.

Like Hernández, Will Smith broke out of a slump by slugging a two-run home run to break the game open in the Dodgers’ big third inning. That all came against Phil Maton, who was pressed into early duty because the Mets only received two innings from Sean Manaea.

The Dodgers’ second bullpen game of the series was hardly flawless, but the seven pitchers used limited the damage and regularly worked out of trouble.

It began with Michael Kopech filling the opener role in his first start since Sept. 20, 2023. Kopech allowed one run in his lone inning of work.

Ryan Brasier’s struggles continued as he surrendered a two-run homer to Mark Vientos upon entering in the fourth inning. Brasier remained in the game in the fifth and stranded a leadoff single.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts then turned to Evan Phillips, who suddenly lost command of the strike zone and issued back-to-back walks that loaded the bases with two outs in the sixth inning. Phillips retired Jesse Winker to preserve the Dodgers’ 6-3 lead.

Daniel Hudson allowed a run in the seventh but the Mets never drew any closer and the Dodgers added three insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth. Blake Treinen converted a six-out save.
