The Los Angeles Dodgers were represented by Blake Snell on the list of MLB Top-10 Starting Pitchers Right Now heading into the 2025 season.
The left-hander was ranked as the fifth-best starting pitcher for this year by The Shredder. It is the third time in his career that he made the list.
Snell placed fourth on MLB Network analyst Brian Kenny’s list, which also featured Shohei Ohtani in the No. 9 spot.
The Shredder ranked Philadelphia Phillies ace Zack Wheeler as the best starting pitcher in baseball for the 2025 season.
Tyler Glasnow and Yoshinobu Yamamoto were among the starters in the just missed category.
Also of note, the 2025 season is the first time in The Shredder’s history (since 2011) that at least one of Clayton Kershaw, Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander were not ranked.
Scherzer had 10 appearances during that span (2014-2023), while Kershaw (2012-2019, 2021) and Verlander (2011-2014, 2018-2020, 2023-2024) were tied with nine each.
The Dodgers addressed their starting rotation by signing Snell to a five-year, $182 million contract this offseason. The deal includes a $52 million signing bonus, deferred salary and limited no-trade clause.
Snell is a two-time Cy Young Award winner who spent the 2024 season with the San Francisco Giants. He got off to a slow start due to signing late and not having a full Spring Training to build up, but posted an MLB-best 1.45 ERA after the All-Star break.
Snell went 5-3 with a 3.12 ERA, 2.43 FIP and 1.05 WHIP in 20 starts while posting a 24.2% strikeout to walk ratio.
The 32-year-old has compiled a 76-58 record with a 3.19 ERA and 1,368 strikeouts in nine seasons for the Tampa Bay Rays (2016-2020), San Diego Padres (2021-2023) and Giants (2024).
