Miguel Rojas ‘Enjoyed’ Dodgers’ Undefeated Streak When He Records A Hit

The Los Angeles Dodgers had their four-game winning streak snapped with a 5-3 walk-off loss to the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park.

It was the first time this season that the Dodgers were defeated when Miguel Rojas recorded at least one hit. The veteran infielder went 1-for-2 with two walks and a run scored.

L.A. entered Friday with a 24-0 record in games that Rojas tallied a hit. They were also 16-0 when he scored a run.

Rojas was disappointed to see the streak come to an end, but now looks forward to starting a new one, via Mike DiGiovanna of the L.A. Times:

“It’s over,” a dejected Rojas said afterward. “I just want to thank all the Dodgers fans out there and the people who have been watching. The support has been amazing. I’ve seen all the posts on social media. It was overwhelming. … But at the end of the day, this is part of the game. I enjoyed it. Hopefully we start another streak tomorrow.”

Rojas’ streak was closely followed by not just Dodgers fans, but his teammates as well. Kiké Hernández recently credited Rojas for the team’s success, but could not explain the correlation between the two.

Rojas has enjoyed one of the best offensive seasons of his career despite beginning the year in a utility role. Through 52 games (39 starts), he is batting .287/.338/.441 with 13 doubles, three home runs and 15 RBI.

Miguel Rojas credits work with Dodgers hitting coaches

Rojas credited his work with the Dodgers hitting coaches for his success this season, noting some mechanical adjustments they helped him make.

“Working alongside the hitting coaches and Robert (Van Scoyoc), they helped me keep my hands kind of loose, because my hands can be my biggest weapon, but it can be my biggest block too,” Rojas explained.

“If I use them right, I’m going to be successful. If I try to stop them, I’m not going to be good. We found something there. It’s really hard to be consistent with it, but I’m trying to stay disciplined with my work in the cage, and when I get the opportunity to work outside on the field.

“Not playing every day is kind of like a challenge, but at the end of the day, the biggest key for me is facing every game like it’s a playoff game.

“I know I’m just going to receive some opportunities against lefties, and sometimes I’m going to play against righties when the matchup is right. I’m just ready for whatever opportunity they give me.”
