Miguel Rojas: Dodgers Are ‘Always Going To Fight’ To Win Games

The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Francisco Giants by seven runs on Saturday, so you couldn’t have guessed it was a game they almost lost just by looking at the scoreboard.

The two clubs traded punches back and forth throughout the game, which included a pair of four-run innings from each of them in consecutive half-innings early in the game. They eventually went to extra innings tied at 6-6, where the Giants nearly won the game.

The Dodgers scored their ghost runner in the 10th inning, but so did the Giants. San Fransisco went on to load the bases with just one out, putting them on the verge of a walk-off hit.

However, Daniel Hudson struck out Patrick Bailey and got Matt Chapman to pop out to send it to the 11th.

That’s when the Dodgers broke the game open with a seven-run 11th inning to take a commanding lead. Miguel Rojas credited that fight to the type of team the Dodgers have, noting they’ll never give up on trying to win, via Mike DiGiovanna of the L.A. Times:

“That was a long one, a tough one, because of everything that happened, but the team effort was remarkable,” Rojas said. “I feel like that’s the team that we have. We’re always going to fight, and we’re always going to be in games.”

To get to that point, the Dodgers also had to battle back against Tyler Glasnow’s worst start with L.A. as he lasted just three innings while giving up five runs. The bullpen mostly held the Giants off the board for eight innings, aside from allowing the lone run in the fifth and the ghost runner in extras.

The offense also could have given up early after they went down 5-2, but they continued to battle their way back to take the lead.

Overall, it took a complete team effort to win the way they did, picking up teammates who struggles and unexpected players stepping up to contribute. The Dodgers used 20 players on their 26 man roster to win, with the only players not getting into the game being their additional starting pitchers, Austin Barnes and Miguel Vargas.

Miguel Rojas enjoyed Dodgers streak when he gets a hit

The Dodgers had their four-game winning streak snapped with a 5-3 walk-off loss against the Giants in the series opener, which brought an end to their undefeated streak when Rojas picks up a hit.

L.A. entered Friday with a 24-0 record in games that Rojas tallied a hit. They were also 16-0 when he scored a run.

Rojas was disappointed to see the streaks come to an end, but now looks forward to starting a new one. On Saturday, the Dodgers did advance to 13-0 when Rojas scores a run.
