Michael Busch: ‘Always Fun’ Returning To Dodger Stadium After Trade

The Los Angeles Dodgers dropped the rubber match of their three-game series with the Chicago Cubs, which saw Michael Busch hit another home run against his former team.

Busch took Tyler Glasnow deep in the sixth inning that gave the Cubs a 2-1 lead. He also homered as part of a 4-for-6 effort in Chicago’s 16-0 win on Saturday.

Busch said after the Cubs’ blowout win that he enjoys getting to play at Dodger Stadium, via Jordan Bastian of MLB.com:

“It’s always fun coming back here,” Busch said. “Some good memories, good people over there. Always fun playing against them. Whenever you can put together a good night, it’s always fun.”

Busch went 6-for-13 with two doubles, two home runs and four RBI in the weekend series against his former team. Included in that was nearly hitting for the cycle on Saturday night, and that game also saw Busch nearly hit a grand slam if not for an impressive catch by Andy Pages.

The 27-year-old was selected by the Dodgers with the 31st overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft and would go on to make his big league debut four years later.

After appearing in 27 games with the Dodgers during the 2023 season, Busch was traded to the Cubs to alleviate a roster crunch. The trade gave Busch an opportunity to get regular playing time and he has certainly taken advantage of it.

Through 61 games this season, Busch is hitting .315/.393/.593 with four doubles, one triple, three home runs and 10 RBI in 61 plate appearances.

Michael Busch’s career against Dodgers

Busch has appeared in 11 games against the Dodgers since last season and is batting a robust .326/.370/.744 with 10 extra-base hits across 46 plate appearances.

Busch has also posted a 1.012 on-base plus slugging percentage in 66 career plate appearances at Dodger Stadium.
