The Los Angeles Dodgers 2020 schedule will be unveiled Monday afternoon during an MLB Network special that begins at 3 p.m. PT. Hosted by Matt Vasgersian and with analysts Harold Reynolds and Tom Verducci, the one-hour special will highlight key matchups and dates of the 60-game schedule.

The season begins with Opening Day on Thursday, July 23, when the Dodgers are expected to host the San Francisco Giants, and the New York Yankees are due to face the Washington Nationals on the road.

Dodgers president and CEO Stan Kasten inadvertently let it slip that the team would begin their 2020 season on July 23 rather than the following day when all clubs are in action. However, Kasten declined to provide any additional details beyond that, and specifically when asked if he could confirm the Opening Day matchup would be against the Giants.

“I can’t yet because schedules haven’t been released yet and that’s going to evolve too until the last dot is dotted we won’t really know because any change to any one game in any city has a domino effect,” Kasten said last week.

As previously announced, each team will play a regionally-based schedule featuring 40 divisional games and 20 Interleague games against the corresponding geographical division. That of course amounts to the Dodgers only facing National League West and American League West opponents in 2020.

Following “MLB Tonight: Schedule Release,” MLB Network will air a new “MLB Tonight” with Fran Charles, Jon Heyman and Dan Plesac live at 4 p.m. EDT, covering the latest news of Summer Camp and continuing with analysis of the 2020 60-game MLB schedule.

Dodgers excited for Spring Training 2.0, regular season

Although the 2020 MLB season will be unlike any other as the league attempts to play it amid a pandemic, several Dodgers players expressed their enthusiasm with the start of Spring Training 2.0 last week.

“I think there’s a lot of energy and excitement that we’re back at the stadium, getting back on the field and have some form of a season to look forward to,” Justin Turner said. “Guys were sitting at home for three months wondering if this was even going to happen or if it was possible. I think guys are just elated to be here and get going.”

Clayton Kershaw added: “I love it. I missed this place. I love being here. Dodger Stadium is very special to me. If these three months taught me anything, it’s that I really miss the game. I love baseball. I miss playing. I miss pitching. I miss the guys. So yeah, it’s a great feeling to come back today.”
