The Major League Baseball community has been mourning the death of Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim pitcher Tyler Skaggs over the past week after he tragically passed away at the age of 27.

After closing out the first half of the season on the road and then going into the All-Star break, the Angels did not play their first home game after Skaggs’ death until Friday night when they hosted the Seattle Mariners.

The game was played as a tribute to Skaggs, with all of the Angels players wearing his No. 45 jersey. His mom Debbie threw out the first pitch and there was a moment of silence held in memory of her son.

What the Angels proceeded to do on the field was truly incredible as Taylor Cole and Felix Peña combined to throw a no-hitter as the Angels cruised to a 13-0 victory.

The entire baseball world was amazed by what the Angels were able to accomplish to pay tribute to their teammate, and they showed their respects by placing all of their jerseys on the mound that he pitched on so many times after the win:

Among the people that reacted to the incredible no-hitter on social media Friday night included Los Angeles Dodgers teammates Justin Turner, Kenley Jansen and Kiké Hernandez, as well as Brock Stewart:

The cause of Skaggs’ death has not been released but one thing known for sure is that the entire baseball community and the Angels lost not only a terrific player but a great teammate, husband, son and human being as well.

In the annual Freeway Series, the Dodgers are set to host the Angels a little over a week from now on July 23 and 24, so the tributes for Skaggs will likely continue at Dodger Stadium, a place he grew up going to watch games being born in Woodland Hills and attending Santa Monica High School.
