The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed a slew of players to Minor League contracts this month, including former Miami Marlins and New York Mets pitcher Jordan Yamamoto.

The right-hander was originally selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 12th round of the 2014 MLB Draft. He last was in the Majors with the Mets in 2021, and over parts of three MLB seasons, owns a 5-7 record with a 6.05 ERA, 5.35 FIP and 1.41 WHIP across 21 games (19 starts).

Yamamoto spent the 2022 season in the Mets’ Minor League system. He pitched at High-A, Double-A and Triple-A, going a combined 3-2 with a 6.00 ERA in 24 games (six starts).

Yamamoto expressed his excitement with joining the Dodgers and hopes to turn his career around:

Let’s go @Dodgers ! Glad to be apart of an amazing organization! Excited to get my career back on track! 💪🏽 pic.twitter.com/hu2oHTdutM

The Dodgers have an excellent reputation with helping players return to form, and it’s part of the reason why Shelby Miller and Noah Syndergaard signed with the organization this offseason.

Miller recently revealed he is working with Dodgers pitching coaches Mark Prior and Connor McGuiness to hone his craft and make his pitches more difficult to pick up for batters.

Syndergaard is eyeing a return to his previous elite form and wants to add velocity to his fastball. “I think when you think of the Los Angeles Dodgers, it has this aura around it,” Syndergaard said earlier this offseason.

“The expectations are super high and you’re expected to go out there and perform to the highest level,” Syndergaard said. “What they did with Heaney and Tyler Anderson, I definitely want to be in that category.”

Dodgers Minor League signings

In addition to Yamamoto, other players signed by the Dodgers to Minor League contracts this month include Tyler Cyr, Kevin Gowdy and Wander Suero. Of the group, Gowdy is the only one who hasn’t pitched in the big leagues.
