Major League Baseball announced Grammy Award-winning musician H.E.R. is performing the National Anthem before Game 1 of the 2023 World Series on Friday when the Texas Rangers host the Arizona Diamondbacks at Globe Life Field.

H.E.R. has been nominated for 25 Grammy Awards over the last five years — winning five to date — as well as an Academy Award and Emmy. She previously performed at Super Bowl LV, the 72nd Emmy Awards, and Grammy Awards on two occasions.

Pearle Peterson, a high school senior from the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula in Sequim, Washington, will perform the National Anthem before Game 2 on Saturday.

The Rangers are in the World Series for the third time in franchise history, and it’s their first appearance since making back-to-back trips in 2010 and 2011. They are looking to win their first championship in team history.

The Diamondbacks are playing in their second World Series in franchise history and previously upset the New York Yankees to win the 2001 Fall Classic.

The World Series will shift to Arizona for Game 3 on Monday, October 30, at Chase Field. The Rangers and Diamondbacks face off on Halloween for Game 4, and a potential Game 5 takes place on Wednesday, November 1.

If necessary, the series will return to Texas for a potential Game 6 on Friday, November 3. A winner-take-all would be played on Saturday, November 4, at Globe Life Field as well.
