Freddy Peralta Trade Rumors: Dodgers Remain Interested In Brewers Starter

The Los Angeles Dodgers addressed their two biggest needs this offseason with the best two players available for those areas.

It started with the signing of Edwin Díaz to improve their bullpen, and then they added on by agreeing to terms with Kyle Tucker for their outfield.

The Dodgers also improved their bench with Andy Ibáñez, and it would be surprising if they don’t re-sign Kiké Hernández once Spring Training begins.

The only area left untouched thus far is their starting rotation, but they are among the teams that remain interested in Freddy Peralta from the Milwaukee Brewers, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post:

Brewers continue to field offers on ace pitcher Freddy Peralta, a free agent after 2026. Yankees, Mets, Dodgers, Giants and Braves among many, many interested teams. Peralta $8M salary means anyone can afford, including Brewers, but extension tougher for small markets.

The Brewers have been discussing a Peralta trade all offseason, but a deal has yet to get done. Along with the Dodgers, the Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets and New York Yankees have been linked to the 29-year-old.

Peralta has been one of the better starting pitchers in the National League for several years and is coming off his best season yet.

The right-hander went 17-6 with a 2.70 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 10.4 strikeouts per nine in 176.2 innings pitched across 33 starts last year. He earned a second career All-Star selection and placed fifth in NL Cy Young Award voting.

Peralta is set to make $8 million this year before reaching free agency after the 2026 season. The Brewers have shopped him as they don’t feel confident in their ability to reach a contract extension.

The Brewers are reportedly asking for a Major League-ready starting pitcher in return, making it a high cost to acquire one year of Peralta.

Dodgers interest in Freddy Peralta

The Dodgers’ interest in Peralta likely comes down to due diligence and checking in on every player, rather than a serious interest in acquiring him.

L.A. is also linked in almost every rumor as opposing teams leak info, real and fake, to drive up the price on their players. If another team believes the Dodgers are interested and making a push to acquire a player, then they may be more willing to trade more.

It’s a benefit to the Brewers to have the Dodgers linked to Peralta, and it would not be surprising if they are the one leaking that info, especially since the Dodgers tend to remain quiet in their real pursuits.
